The embassy and its network in Italy
Jonathan Peled heads the embassy as ambassador; the Italian list gives 5 December 2024 as the date of accreditation. The Italian diplomatic list names 37 accredited diplomats for the embassy. Two honorary consulates support Israeli citizens in other parts of Italy.

Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Israeli sources:
Israeli travel document (passport) abroad
- Missions abroad issue non-biometric passports (biometric passports are issued only in Israel)
- Contact the consular department by e-mail first, quoting your 9-digit Israeli ID number and personal details
- Two recent photos, 5 × 5 cm, on a white background
- Your last Israeli travel document and the signed application form
- In person: first-time applicants, minors, lost/stolen/damaged documents and citizens who have not visited Israel for 10 years – adult renewals can often be sent by post
- Minors: copies of both parents’ passports; parents sign the form before a notary

Do I need an appointment?
Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.
Do Italian citizens need a visa for Israel?
Italian citizens do not need a visa for short stays in Israel (up to 90 days), but must obtain an electronic travel authorisation before departure. Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).
Closing days
Like most offices in Italy, the embassy closes on public holidays as well as on the Israeli national day, 9 May. Local holiday: 29 June, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, patron of the city. Check before visiting around Christmas, Easter and the August holidays (Ferragosto).

Israeli nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +39 06 36198500. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Italian emergency number is 112.
