  • Register with the competent Luxembourg embassy or consulate and check your data in the national register
  • Apply in person at a Luxembourg embassy or consulate general (where there is none: a Belgian mission – contact the passport office BPVL first)
  • Your current Luxembourg passport or ID card (or a police report if lost or stolen)
  • A recent photo meeting ICAO standards
  • Residence certificate less than 3 months old or residence permit (otherwise utility bill, driving licence or sworn statement)
  • Fee for an adult 10-year passport: €50 (fast track €150); collect within 6 months

Do Italian citizens need a visa for Luxembourg?

Italian citizens can travel to Luxembourg without a visa; a valid passport or national identity card is enough. Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).

Closing days

Like most offices in Italy, the embassy closes on public holidays; Luxembourg celebrations on 23 June (national day) usually mean a closure too. Offices in the city also close on 29 June for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

In an emergency, Luxembourg citizens should call the embassy on +39 06 77201177. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Italian emergency number is 112.
