Who runs the Peruvian Embassy?
According to the Italian diplomatic list, Peru is represented by Ambassador Manuel José Antonio Cacho-Sousa Velázquez (accredited 1 July 2024). The Italian diplomatic list names 12 accredited diplomats for the embassy. Peru also has career consular offices in Florence, Genoa, Milan, Rome and Turin. Three honorary consulates support Peruvian citizens in other parts of Italy.

Documents checklist
The most frequent applications and the documents the Peruvian authorities ask for:
Peruvian electronic passport (adults, abroad)
- Applications abroad are handled by the Peruvian consulates (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) – check your consulate’s passport page and book an appointment where required
- Your valid DNI in good condition
- Receipt for the consular fee – the equivalent of US$70 (charged in “soles consulares” in local currency)
- If a previous passport was lost or stolen: a sworn declaration
- Old mechanical passports can no longer be renewed – a new electronic passport is issued (valid 10 years for adults)
- In an emergency (lost or stolen passport) the consulate can issue an emergency passport for the return to Peru or to your country of residence

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.
Visa and entry information for Italian citizens
Italian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Peru (up to 90 days). Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).
Closing days
Like most offices in Italy, the embassy closes on public holidays and on Peru’s national day (28 July). Offices in the city also close on 29 June for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

In an emergency, Peruvian citizens should call the embassy on +39 06 806915100680691534. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Italian emergency number is 112.
