About the Moldovan Embassy in Berlin
The Moldovan Embassy in Berlin represents the Republic of Moldova in Germany and supports bilateral relations between Moldova and Germany. Its work includes political dialogue, economic cooperation, European integration, cultural relations and consular affairs.
Germany recognised Moldova as an independent state in December 1991, and the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992. Today, Germany supports Moldova's economic development, resilience and European integration and is one of the country's important foreign trade partners.
Cooperation also covers energy security, investment, institutional development and regional stability. Germany, France and Romania additionally launched the Moldova Partnership Platform in 2022 to support the country's resilience and development.
Visa Information
Moldovan citizens holding a biometric passport do not need a visa for short visits to Germany. They may normally stay in Germany and the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for purposes such as tourism or business travel.
The visa exemption applies only to holders of eligible biometric Moldovan passports. A German national visa is generally required for longer stays or purposes such as employment, study or family reunification.
German citizens do not need a visa to enter Moldova for stays of up to 90 days when no employment is taken up. For stays exceeding 90 days or for employment, the appropriate Moldovan residence authorisation is required.
