Documents checklist

The most frequent applications and the documents the Swiss authorities ask for:

Swiss passport or ID card (Swiss citizens abroad)

  • Apply online; the application is processed by the Swiss representation where you are registered
  • You will then be invited to give your biometric data in person (at your representation or another equipped representation)
  • Check before applying that your data in the Swiss civil register are up to date
  • Minors must be accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) when giving biometric data
  • Statutory delivery time abroad: 30 days – apply well before your document expires

Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.

Closing days

Like most offices in Poland, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Corpus Christi and All Saints’ Day (1 November) and on Switzerland’s national day (1 August).

Emergency assistance

In Poland, the emergency number is 112. Polish citizens who need help in Switzerland should contact the Polish embassy or consulate responsible for the country; the Polish Foreign Ministry’s Odyseusz service lists the contacts and lets travellers register their trip.
