The embassy and its network in Belgium
The embassy is currently led by Nohra Maria Quintero Correa as chargé d’affaires a.i. (diplomatic rank: minister plenipotentiary). This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. Colombia also has a consulate general in Brussels. Colombian passport (application abroad)
- Abroad, only Colombian consulates issue passports – the application and the collection are in person
- Original cédula de ciudadanía (or the original contraseña receipt if you do not have the card yet)
- To collect the passport: original Colombian ID and the payment receipt
- Ordinary passports are valid for 10 years; processing at consulates takes about 8 working days
- Minors: accompanied by a parent or legal representative with their cédula; a third party needs a special power of attorney from both parents (apostilled and translated into Spanish if made abroad)

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens

Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Belgian holidays such as 21 July (National Day), 15 August and 11 November as well as on the Colombian national day, 20 July. Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Colombian citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 554 05 68. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
