About the Irish Embassy in Brussels

The ambassador is Kevin Francis Conmy, who presented credentials to the King of the Belgians on 10 January 2022. Renewing an Irish passport from abroad

  • Renew online with Passport Online on ireland.ie – available worldwide; applications must be made in the country where you live
  • Possible if your last passport was issued within the last 15 years (otherwise apply as a first-time applicant)
  • Your current passport, a digital photo meeting the requirements, an e-mail address and a credit or debit card
  • Most adult renewals need no supporting documents – the form tells you if anything else is required
  • Fee: €75 for a 10-year adult passport plus €15 postage outside Ireland
  • Emergency or temporary passports are not available online – contact the Embassy of Ireland

Do I need an appointment?

Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday and on Ireland’s national day (17 March). Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.

Emergency assistance

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 282 34 00. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101). Belgian citizens who need help in Ireland contact the Belgian Embassy in Dublin.
