What Macedonian citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Macedonian government information:
Passport of North Macedonia (application at a mission abroad)
- Travel document application form, submitted in person – photo, two fingerprints and a digital signature are taken (no fingerprints up to age 12)
- For a first application abroad: citizenship certificate, birth register extract and an identity document (from North Macedonia or your country of residence)
- A residence permit, if required for your status in the country of residence
- Lost or stolen passport: police report translated into Macedonian and a signed statement
- Fee: €30 for adults over 27 (€27 aged 4–27, €25 under 4); valid 10 years from age 27

Travelling from Italy to North Macedonia
Italian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in North Macedonia (up to 90 days). Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).
Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Italian national holidays such as 25 April, 2 June and 15 August; Macedonian celebrations on 2 August (national day) usually mean a closure too. Offices in the city also close on 29 June for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Many offices work reduced hours in August – call ahead in summer.

Macedonian nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +39 06 84241109. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Italian emergency number is 112.
