Do I need an appointment?
Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the website first.
Do Swedish citizens need a visa for Australia?
Entry and visa rules for Australia are set by Australia itself – the Swedish Foreign Ministry refers travellers to the Australian authorities. Its travel information for Australia (in Swedish) covers safety, health and passport validity.
Closing days
Like most offices in Sweden, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Epiphany (6 January), Ascension Day and All Saints’ Day. On the Australian national day (26 January) the office is usually closed or holds a reception. Many missions also close on their own national and religious holidays – call ahead.
Emergency assistance
Australian nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +46 8 613 29 00. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Swedish authorities. In Sweden, the emergency number is 112. Swedish citizens who need help in Australia should contact the Swedish embassy responsible for the country or the Swedish Foreign Ministry’s 24-hour consular duty service on +46 8 405 50 05; Sweden Abroad lists the local contacts.
