Who runs the Belgian Embassy?
According to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Belgium is represented by Ambassador William Jean M. de Baets. Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Belgian sources:
Belgian passport (application abroad)
- You must be registered in the population register of a Belgian embassy or consulate (Belgians registered in a Belgian municipality cannot get an ordinary passport abroad)
- Apply in person (from age 6) – fingerprints from age 12; many posts work by appointment
- Completed and signed application form; one recent photo (many posts take the photo themselves)
- Your current passport, which is cancelled when the new one is delivered
- Minors: form signed by both parents
- You may also apply at another Belgian post or a Belgian municipality – this can take longer
Sources: FPS Foreign Affairs Belgium – ordinary passport, FPS Foreign Affairs Belgium – biometrics and passport applications from Belgians abroad (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
Do I need an appointment?
