About the honorary consulate in Minsk

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s handbook lists office hours (Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00); as honorary consuls work part-time, confirm before you go.

The office is located in the city of Minsk.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is not on the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s list of visa-free destinations for Belarusian citizens, so a visa is normally required; the ministry asks travellers to check the entry rules with the embassy of the destination country before departure. Which Bosnian office issues passports and visas?

Binding consular acts – passports, visas, certificates – are the responsibility of the Bosnian embassy responsible for Belarus.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Bosnian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
