Citizens of the Central African Republic need a Schengen visa for short stays in Liechtenstein, as the Central African Republic is listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 (consolidated version of 30 December 2025); Liechtenstein is part of the Schengen area.
Which Central African office issues passports and visas?
For passports and other formal consular services, Central African citizens should ask the honorary consulate which Central African mission is responsible.
The Central African Republic has no embassy in Liechtenstein, and the Protocol’s list of diplomatic missions (1 September 2026) names no Central African embassy accredited to Liechtenstein; contact the honorary consulate for directions.
What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by the Central African Republic and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Central African citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
