Who runs the Czech Embassy?
The ambassador is H. E. Mr. René Miko, who presented credentials to the King of the Netherlands on 6 September 2023. The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government and of international institutions such as the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court and the OPCW, so many embassies in the city also follow their work. One honorary consulate supports Czech citizens in other parts of the Netherlands.
Consular services
The consular section typically handles:
- Czech passports and emergency travel documents
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Powers of attorney and notarial acts
- Certificates for pensions abroad
- Citizenship and civil register matters
Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Czech sources:
Czech passport (application abroad)
- Apply in person by appointment at the embassy or consulate general – no postal or proxy applications; honorary consulates do not accept passport applications
- Proof of identity (e.g. travel document or driving licence)
- Proof of Czech citizenship: valid Czech passport or ID card (občanský průkaz), or a certificate of Czech citizenship
- A document with your birth number (rodné číslo), e.g. Czech birth certificate; Czech marriage certificate if your surname changed
- Your previous Czech passport, if you have one
- Legal processing time for applications abroad: 120 days

Do I need an appointment?
Many consular services require an appointment – check the website first.
Closing days
The embassy is normally closed on Dutch public holidays; the Czech national day (28 October) usually means a closure too. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Czech citizens should call the embassy on +31 70 313 00 31. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. In the Netherlands, the emergency number is 112; for non-urgent police matters call 0900 8844. Dutch citizens who need help in the Czech Republic can contact the Dutch Embassy in Prague or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 24/7 contact centre on +31 247 247 247.
