Who runs the Dominican Embassy?

According to the Belgian protocol list, the Dominican Republic is represented by Ambassador Joan Margarita Cedano Garcia de Madera (credentials presented 10 March 2025). Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Dominican diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff. The Dominican Republic also has a consulate general in Antwerp.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday and on the Dominican Republic’s national day (27 February). Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Dominican citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 346 49 35. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
