Visa information

German citizens need a visa for Egypt. A simple tourist visa issued before travel by an Egyptian mission costs EUR 35 plus EUR 3 processing. On arrival, a single-entry visa costs USD 30; at Cairo International Airport, visa stickers have been replaced by QR codes since 1 September 2026, which can be bought in advance on Visaonarrival.gov.eg. Passports must be valid for at least six months.

Many holidaymakers simply buy the visa on arrival in Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh, at official bank counters before passport control.
