Who runs the Indian Embassy?
According to the Belgian protocol list, India is represented by Ambassador Pranay Kumar Verma (credentials presented 27 May 2026). This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. Re-issue of an Indian passport abroad
- Register and fill in the application on the Passport Seva portal for Indian embassies and consulates, then print the completed form
- Take the printout and your documents to the application centre named by the embassy or consulate for your area
- Your current passport in original, with self-attested photocopies of the first two and last two pages (including the ECR/non-ECR page) and any observation page
- Original documents plus one set of self-attested photocopies
- ICAO-compliant photographs (required since 1 September 2025)
- For a change of name or spouse’s name: e.g. marriage certificate or divorce decree

Closing days
The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays; Indian celebrations on 26 January (national day) usually mean a closure too. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Indian citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 640 91 40. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
