The honorary consul is Ahmad Bahjat Nasser, according to the Italian embassy’s website. According to the same source, its consular district covers the departments of Alto Paraná and Canindeyú. It can receive civil-status, pension and AIRE registration documents and forward them to the embassy in Asunción and hand over certificates and passports issued by the embassy.

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Italy and approved by the host country.
