The embassy and its network in Belgium

Aidit Erkin heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 17 January 2023 as the date of the presentation of credentials. Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Kyrgyz diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff. Two honorary consulates support Kyrgyz citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Consular services

What you can usually arrange here:

  • Kyrgyz passports and emergency travel documents
  • Registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Certification and legalisation of documents
  • Certificates for pensions abroad
  • Visas for travellers who need one for Kyrgyzstan

Do I need an appointment?

Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.

Travelling from Belgium to Kyrgyzstan

Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Kyrgyzstan (up to 60 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday and on Kyrgyzstan’s national day (31 August). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

Emergency assistance

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 640 18 68. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
