Who runs the Lebanese Embassy?

According to the Belgian protocol list, Lebanon is represented by Ambassador Walid Haidar (credentials presented 2 September 2025). This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices.

What Lebanese citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Lebanese government information:

Lebanese passport (application at an embassy)

  • Lebanese ID card or a recent individual civil status extract – original and photocopy
  • The embassy’s application form, signed in person at the embassy
  • Three recent colour photos (not older than six months), 4.3 × 3.5 cm, white background
  • Your residence card in Belgium, if applicable, and your current Lebanese passport
  • Lost passport: police report explaining the circumstances
  • Note: 2003-model passports can no longer be replaced abroad (only a one-time one-year renewal to travel to Lebanon)

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens

Belgian citizens need a visa for Lebanon, which can be obtained on arrival (up to 30 days). Details: Belgian Foreign Ministry – travel documents by country.

Closing days

The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays as well as on the Lebanese national day, 22 November. Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Lebanese citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 661 33 31. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
