Monaco is not part of the Schengen area, but visitors need the same documents as for entering France, according to Monaco’s public service portal. Citizens of Mauritius need no visa for short stays in the Schengen area (up to 90 days in any 180-day period, Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806), so they can visit Monaco without one.

Which Mauritian office issues passports and visas?

For passports and other formal consular services, Mauritian citizens should ask the honorary consulate which Mauritian mission is responsible.

Mauritius has no embassy in Monaco, and the Monegasque government’s country page names no Mauritian embassy accredited to Monaco; contact the honorary consulate for directions.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Mauritius and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Mauritian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
