The office is in Malta’s capital, Valletta, about 6 km from Malta International Airport in Luqa.
Citizens of Mozambique need a Schengen visa for short stays in Malta, as Mozambique is listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 (consolidated version of 30 December 2025).
Which Mozambican office issues passports and visas?
Passports and other formal consular services for Mozambican citizens are handled by the Mozambican High Commission in Rome (accredited to Malta).
Mozambique has no embassy in Malta. According to the diplomatic list of the Maltese Ministry for Foreign Affairs (4 August 2026), the mission accredited to Malta is the High Commission for the Republic of Mozambique in Rome. It is headed by Santos Ấlvaro (high commissioner).

What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Mozambique and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Mozambican citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.

Holidays that fall on a weekend are not moved to a weekday; Good Friday 2027 is on 26 March. The honorary consulate may also close on Mozambique’s national day (25 June).
