Renewing a Pakistani passport from abroad

  • Online renewal for overseas Pakistanis on onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk if your machine-readable passport has expired or has less than one year of validity
  • Colour scans of your valid CNIC or NICOP (both sides) and of your current passport
  • A scan of your valid visa, residence permit, asylum card or other-nationality passport
  • Government employees: a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their department
  • Fingerprints on the downloadable form; fee by Visa or Mastercard
  • Other cases (lost, damaged, new passports for adults): apply at the nearest Pakistani embassy, high commission or consulate with MRP facility

Closing days

The high commission is normally closed on UK bank holidays and on Pakistan’s national day (23 March). Many missions also close on their own national and religious holidays – call ahead.

Pakistani nationals in urgent need of help can reach the high commission on +44 20 7664 9276. Missions can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. In the UK, the emergency number is 999 (or 112).
