About the honorary consulate in Copenhagen

The year given in the list for the appointment is 2016.

Despite the name, the office is in Rungsted Kyst, near Copenhagen.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. Its travel advice points out that the authorities of the destination decide on entry rules, and asks Danish citizens to check with that country’s nearest embassy or consulate before departure – for Peru, that means this mission. What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Peru and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Peruvian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
