Before your visit

The embassy is located at 3, Rue de Noisiel in Paris’s 16th arrondissement.

  • Opening hours (according to the embassy): Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:30.
  • Documents: take originals and photocopies, and a valid passport or identity card.

The embassy and its network in France

Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Portuguese sources:

Portuguese electronic passport (application abroad)

  • Apply in person at the consular post for your area of residence
  • Valid Cartão de Cidadão or Bilhete de Identidade – no other document is accepted
  • Your previous passport, if you are replacing it
  • For minors: the child, the parent or guardian with ID, and proof of parental responsibility (less than 6 months old) where applicable
  • Fee (2026): €105 normal, €110 express, €120 urgent – paid in cash or by Multibanco

Do I need an appointment?

Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.

Travelling from France to Portugal

As EU citizens, French nationals can travel to Portugal without a visa; a valid passport or national identity card is enough. The French Foreign Ministry applies normal vigilance for Portugal. Details: French travel advice (Conseils aux voyageurs).

Closing days

The embassy is closed on French public holidays and on the Portuguese national holiday (10 June). Check the website before visiting around holidays.

Emergency assistance

Portuguese nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +33 1 47 27 35 29. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money.
