What British citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official British government information:

Renewing a British passport from abroad

  • British embassies and consulates do not issue passports – apply online with HM Passport Office on GOV.UK
  • Your old passport, which you send with the application
  • A digital photo
  • A credit or debit card for the fee
  • Any valid passports you hold from another country (the passport or a colour copy of every page)

Emergency travel document

  • For British nationals outside the UK who need to travel within 6 weeks
  • Your passport is lost, stolen, damaged, full or recently expired, or you cannot renew it in time
  • Usually valid for a single or return journey through up to 5 countries
  • Apply online on GOV.UK

Visa and entry information for Croatian citizens

Croatian citizens do not need a visa for the United Kingdom, but must obtain an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) before departure, according to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. See the ministry’s visa overview for the United Kingdom (in Croatian).

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on Croatian public holidays such as Epiphany (6 January), Easter Monday, Statehood Day (30 May), Corpus Christi, Anti-Fascist Struggle Day (22 June) and Victory Day (5 August). The British national day, 13 June, normally means a closure too.
