Who runs the Venezuelan Embassy?
The embassy is currently led by Marcos José Garcia Figueredo as chargé d’affaires a.i. (diplomatic rank: first secretary). Brussels hosts the EU institutions and NATO, so several countries keep separate missions there; this page covers the bilateral embassy to Belgium.

Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Venezuelan sources:
Extending a Venezuelan passport abroad (prórroga)
- Start the request online on the SAIME portal (saime.gob.ve), choose “Obtención de prórroga de pasaporte en el extranjero” and the consulate where you will collect it
- Pay the SAIME fee online (US$100 by international card, according to several embassies) – the consulate also charges a consular fee (minors under 18 are exempt)
- Only biometric passports (with chip) in good condition with at least two free sheets can be extended
- Bring the passport to the consulate, where the printed extension is stamped in
- Minors: birth certificate; naturalised citizens: the Gaceta Oficial

Do Belgian citizens need a visa for Venezuela?
Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Venezuela; a valid passport is required. Details: Belgian Foreign Ministry – travel documents by country.
Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Belgian holidays such as 21 July (National Day), 15 August and 11 November as well as on the Venezuelan national day, 5 July. Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.
Emergency assistance
Venezuelan nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +32 2 639 03 40. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
