About the honorary consulate in Vienna
Monaco is represented in Austria by honorary consul general Dr. Christian Dorda, in office since 1998. Officially, it has authority for certifications, passports and visas. Public hours: Monday to Thursday from 09:00 to 18:00; Friday from 09:00 to 15:00.
Which Monégasque office issues passports and visas?
This honorary consulate is authorised to issue passports. Travel tip: Austrian citizens need no visa for Monaco and can travel with a passport or an identity card. For passports, visas and civil status documents, Monégasque citizens contact the Monégasque Embassy at Klingelhöferstraße 7 , 10785 Berlin.
What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Monaco and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Monégasque citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
