Bangladesh e-passport (application abroad)

  • Apply online on the e-passport portal (epassport.gov.bd) and print the confirmation page showing “Application Submitted”
  • Book an appointment and attend in person for biometric enrolment (fingerprints, iris scan, photo, signature)
  • Bangladeshi national ID card (NID) or a 17-digit online birth registration certificate (English version) – foreign or handwritten birth certificates are not accepted
  • Proof of legal status in the United Kingdom (residence permit)
  • Reissue: your current passport; lost passport: a police report (GD) with the passport number
  • The passport is printed in Dhaka – processing can take several weeks

Closing days

Expect the high commission to be closed on UK bank holidays such as Easter Monday and the late summer bank holiday and on Bangladesh’s national day (26 March). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
