About the Vietnamese Embassy in Brussels
The embassy is currently led by Trung Viet Nguyen as chargé d’affaires a.i. (diplomatic rank: counsellor). Many embassies in Brussels are also accredited to Luxembourg, and some Vietnamese diplomats in the city work with the European Union and NATO – these are separate missions with their own staff. One honorary consulate supports Vietnamese citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Documents checklist
Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Vietnamese sources:
Renewing a Vietnamese passport abroad
- Fill in the declaration online at passport.mofa.gov.vn (form TK02), print it and bring it to the embassy
- Your old passport with copies of the personal-information and annotation pages
- Proof of residence abroad (residence card, valid visa or residence confirmation)
- Two new photos, 4 × 6 cm, white background, bareheaded, without glasses
- Lost passport: police report of the host country and written statements to the embassy
- Valid 10 years from age 14 (5 years under 14)

Do I need an appointment?
Many consular services require an appointment – check the embassy website first.
Do Belgian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Vietnam (up to 45 days); a valid passport is required. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays and on Vietnam’s national day (2 September). Many offices work reduced hours in summer – call ahead in July and August.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Vietnamese citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 379 27 37. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
