Visitors go to Via Nomentana, 132, 00162 Rome. The consular section has its own entrance/address: Nomentana, 132, 00162 Rome.

  • Opening hours (according to the embassy): Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 17:00.
  • Bring: your passport or ID card, plus originals and copies of every document needed for your application.

Who runs the Thai Embassy?

The ambassador is Puttaporn Ewtoksan, accredited to Italy on 23 April 2024. The Italian diplomatic list names 10 accredited diplomats for the embassy. Five honorary consulates support Thai citizens in other parts of Italy.

  • Help for citizens in difficulty – illness, arrest or loss of documents

Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Thai sources:

Thai e-passport (application abroad)

  • Book an appointment and apply in person – biometric data are taken, so postal applications are not possible
  • Your valid Thai national ID card (adults without one must first obtain it in Thailand)
  • Your current passport – or a police report if it was lost
  • The application form (and a photo where requested)
  • Minors under 20: Thai birth certificate, both parents present or their documented consent
  • Allow about 4–6 weeks

Closing days

Like most offices in Italy, the embassy closes on public holidays and on Thailand’s national day (5 December). Local holiday: 29 June, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, patron of the city. Many offices work reduced hours in August – call ahead in summer.

Emergency assistance

Thai nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +39 06 8622051. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Italian emergency number is 112.
