Documents checklist

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Serbian sources:

Serbian passport (application at a mission abroad)

  • Identity document – biometric passport, ID card or other public document
  • Certificate of Serbian citizenship (for a first biometric passport or if personal data have changed); the birth certificate is usually obtained by the mission
  • Your previous passport – or a police report if it was lost or stolen
  • Proof of legal residence in Portugal (requested by many missions)
  • Passports are produced in Serbia; the legal processing time for applications abroad is 60 days

Travelling from Portugal to Serbia

Portuguese citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Serbia (up to 90 days), according to the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs; a valid passport is required. The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes the current entry rules in its travel advice (in Portuguese); check it before booking.

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on Portuguese holidays such as Freedom Day (25 April), Portugal Day (10 June) and Republic Day (5 October); the Serbian national day (15 February) usually means a closure too. Lisbon’s municipal holiday, St Anthony’s Day (13 June), may also mean a closure.
