Documents checklist

Albanian passport (application abroad)

  • Apply online through e-Albania, choose the appointment at the embassy or consulate and keep the application number
  • On the appointment day: fingerprints are taken and the fee is paid (often by card only)
  • Bring your old passport or ID card – if lost, declare the loss at the mission or beforehand on e-Albania
  • Children born abroad: first register the birth in the Albanian civil registry (can be started on e-Albania)
  • Processing: about 3–4 weeks after the fingerprints; no expedited procedure

Visa and entry information for Belgian citizens

Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Albania; according to the Belgian Foreign Ministry, a valid identity card (eID) or passport is accepted. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays and on Albania’s national day (28 November). If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Albanian citizens should call the embassy on +32 2 640 14 22. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
