About the honorary consulate in Novi Sad
The honorary consulate represents Austria in Serbia. According to the Diplomatic List of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (29 September 2026), the post is held by Zoran Tadić (honorary consul; the list gives the date 25 February 2021). The ministry’s list gives the office hours as Monday to Friday 08:00–16:00. To check before a visit, call +381 21 622 0010 or e-mail office@austrianconsulatenovisad.rs.
Its consular district covers the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, according to the ministry’s list.
Novi Sad, in the South Bačka District (Vojvodina), lies about 68 km in a straight line from the centre of Belgrade and about 61 km from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.
Citizens of Austria with ordinary passports do not need a visa for visits to Serbia of up to 90 days within a six-month period, according to the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ visa regime page; a national identity card can also be used to enter. Serbia is not part of the Schengen area and applies its own visa rules.

What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Austria and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Austrian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
Other consulates and embassies in Novi Sad

Closing days
Serbia’s non-working public holidays are New Year (1 and 2 January), Orthodox Christmas (7 January), Statehood Day (15 and 16 February), Orthodox Easter from Good Friday to Easter Monday, Labour Day (1 and 2 May) and Armistice Day (11 November). If a state holiday falls on a Sunday, the next working day is off. In 2027 Orthodox Easter falls on 2 May, which is also the second day of Labour Day, so offices close from 30 April to 4 May 2027.
