The consular section typically handles:
- Austrian passports and emergency travel documents
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Certification and legalisation of documents
- Certificates for pensions abroad
- Citizenship and civil register matters
Depending on where you live, consular matters may also be handled by the consulate general in Krakow.

Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Polish holidays such as Constitution Day (3 May), Independence Day (11 November) and Christmas Eve (24 December); the Austrian national day (26 October) usually means a closure too. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +48 22 841 00 81. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform family members; they do not provide legal representation or money. In Poland, the emergency number is 112. Polish citizens who need help in Austria can contact the Polish Embassy in Vienna; the Polish Foreign Ministry’s Odyseusz service lists all Polish consular contacts and lets travellers register their trip.
