What does the honorary consul in Athens do?
Chad is represented in Athens by an honorary consul. Efstathios Mokas holds the post, according to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its jurisdiction is the whole of Greece. Meetings take place by appointment. Before travelling there, call +30 210 899 6051 and e-mail mokaseg.eg@gmail.com to check that someone is available.
Athens lies in Attica.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. It asks Greek citizens travelling outside the EU and the European Economic Area to check with the consular authorities of the country they are visiting before departure – for Chad, that means this mission. Which Chadian office issues passports and visas?
Official documents for Chadian citizens are issued by the Chadian Embassy in Paris (accredited to Greece); the honorary consulate can explain the procedure.
Note: Chad has no resident embassy in Athens; its embassy in Paris is accredited to Greece.
When is the office closed?
Like most offices in Greece, the honorary consulate closes on public holidays – including Clean Monday, Orthodox Easter (Good Friday to Easter Monday), the Assumption (15 August) and Christmas. It is usually also closed on Chad’s national day (11 August). Many missions also close on their own national and religious holidays – call ahead.
