Closing days

Like most offices in Italy, the consulate general closes on public holidays; Chinese celebrations on 1 October (national day) usually mean a closure too. The city’s patron saint’s day (Saint John the Baptist, 24 June) is a local holiday. Many offices work reduced hours in August – call ahead in summer.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Chinese citizens should contact the consulate general or the embassy. Consular staff can replace lost travel documents and inform relatives; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. In Italy, the general emergency number is 112.
