About the Congolese Embassy in Brussels

Christian Ndongala Nkuku heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 3 December 2021 as the date of the presentation of credentials. Brussels hosts the EU institutions and NATO, so several countries keep separate missions there; this page covers the bilateral embassy to Belgium. The Democratic Republic of the Congo also has a consulate general in Antwerp. One honorary consulate supports Congolese citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Travelling from Belgium to the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Belgian citizens need a visa for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to be obtained before travelling. The Belgian Foreign Ministry keeps the entry rules for Belgians in its travel documents database; check it before booking.

Closing days

Like most offices in Belgium, the embassy closes on public holidays – including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday; Congolese celebrations on 30 June (national day) usually mean a closure too. Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.

Emergency assistance

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 213 49 80. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
