The embassy and its network in Belgium
Andrea Belen Gonzalez Nader heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 1 April 2026 as the date of the presentation of credentials. This is the bilateral embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium; missions to the European Union or NATO in Brussels are separate offices. One honorary consulate supports Ecuadorian citizens in other parts of Belgium.

Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Ecuadorian sources:
Ecuadorian ordinary passport (first issue or renewal abroad)
- Book an appointment with the consulate (consular appointment platform of the Foreign Ministry)
- A document proving your identity and Ecuadorian nationality (e.g. cédula)
- Your current ordinary passport, if it is still valid
- If lost: the police report of the loss
- Fee: US$90 (US$45 for senior citizens, free for persons with disabilities); passports are valid 10 years and cannot be extended
- Minors: both parents with their original ID, or a notarised special power of attorney for the absent parent

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Belgian public holidays and on Ecuador’s national day (10 August). Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.
Emergency assistance
For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 649 95 45. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Belgian authorities. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
