About the honorary consulate in Vaduz
The honorary consulate represents Estonia in Liechtenstein. According to the list of consular missions published by the Protocol of the Liechtenstein Government (2 April 2026), it is headed by Beat Fridolin Eberle (honorary consul; the list gives the date 29 November 2024). No opening hours are published; arrange a visit in advance. To do so, call +41 76 512 37 07 or e-mail beat.eberle@mfa.ee.
The office is in Vaduz, the capital, about 81 km from Zurich Airport and about 39 km from the small St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport. Liechtenstein has no airport of its own.
As citizens of an EU country, Estonian nationals need no visa for Liechtenstein; a valid passport or national identity card is enough to enter.
Which Estonian office issues passports and visas?
For passports and other formal consular services, Estonian citizens should ask the honorary consulate which Estonian mission is responsible.
Estonia has no embassy in Liechtenstein, and the Protocol’s list of diplomatic missions (1 September 2026) names no Estonian embassy accredited to Liechtenstein; contact the honorary consulate for directions.
What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Estonia and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Estonian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.

Liechtenstein has no embassy in Estonia; under an arrangement dating from 1919, Liechtenstein citizens there can turn to the Swiss embassy or consulate for consular help (passports and identity cards excepted), and to Austria’s mission where Switzerland is not represented.
