The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. It asks Greek citizens travelling outside the EU and the European Economic Area to check with the consular authorities of the country they are visiting before departure – for the Gambia, that means this mission. See the ministry’s page on visas for Greek citizens (in Greek).
Which Gambian office issues passports and visas?
Binding consular acts – passports, visas, certificates – are the responsibility of the Gambian Embassy in Madrid (accredited to Greece).
Note: The Gambia has no resident embassy in Athens; its embassy in Madrid is accredited to Greece.
When is the office closed?
Like most offices in Greece, the honorary consulate closes on public holidays – including Clean Monday, Orthodox Easter (Good Friday to Easter Monday), the Assumption (15 August) and Christmas. It is usually also closed on the Gambia’s national day (18 February). Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas and Easter.
