Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Spanish national holidays as well as on the Gambian national day, 18 February. Regional holiday to note: the Community of Madrid Day (2 May). Check before visiting around Christmas, Easter (Holy Week) and local fiestas.
Emergency assistance
In an emergency, Gambian citizens should call the embassy on +34 91 436 17 92. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Spanish emergency number is 112.
