About the Icelandic Embassy in Rome
According to the Italian diplomatic list, Iceland is represented by Ambassador Guðmundur Árnason (accredited 19 February 2026). Two honorary consulates support Icelandic citizens in other parts of Italy.

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.
Travelling from Italy to Iceland
Italian citizens can travel to Iceland without a visa; a valid passport or national identity card is enough. Details: Italian travel advice (Viaggiare Sicuri).
Closing days
The embassy is closed on Italian public holidays; Icelandic celebrations on 17 June (national day) usually mean a closure too. Local holiday: 29 June, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, patron of the city. Many offices work reduced hours in August – call ahead in summer.

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +39 06 94804219. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Italian authorities. The Italian emergency number is 112.
