About the Indian Embassy in Warsaw

According to the Polish Foreign Ministry, India is represented by Ambassador Neeta Bhushan (credentials presented 21 July 2026). Two honorary consulates – in Krakow and Wroclaw – support Indian citizens outside the capital.

Consular services

The consular section typically handles:

  • Indian passports and emergency travel documents
  • Registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Certification and legalisation of documents
  • Powers of attorney and notarial acts
  • Citizenship and civil register matters

Documents checklist

What Indian citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Indian government information:

Re-issue of an Indian passport abroad

  • Register and fill in the application on the Passport Seva portal for Indian embassies and consulates, then print the completed form
  • Take the printout and your documents to the application centre named by the embassy or consulate for your area
  • Your current passport in original, with self-attested photocopies of the first two and last two pages (including the ECR/non-ECR page) and any observation page
  • Original documents plus one set of self-attested photocopies
  • ICAO-compliant photographs (required since 1 September 2025)
  • For a change of name or spouse’s name: e.g. marriage certificate or divorce decree

Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the website first.

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on Polish holidays such as Constitution Day (3 May), Independence Day (11 November) and Christmas Eve (24 December); the Indian national day (26 January) usually means a closure too. Many missions also close on their own national and religious holidays – call ahead.

Emergency assistance

In an emergency, Indian citizens should call the embassy on +48 22 540 00 00. The embassy can help with lost passports, arrests and serious accidents, but it cannot cover costs or interfere with Polish authorities. In Poland, the emergency number is 112. Polish citizens who need help in India should contact the Polish embassy or consulate responsible for the country; the Polish Foreign Ministry’s Odyseusz service lists the contacts and lets travellers register their trip.
