Prepare these documents before your appointment. The lists are taken from official Luxembourg sources:

Luxembourg passport (application abroad)

  • Register with the competent Luxembourg embassy or consulate and check your data in the national register
  • Apply in person at a Luxembourg embassy or consulate general (where there is none: a Belgian mission – contact the passport office BPVL first)
  • Your current Luxembourg passport or ID card (or a police report if lost or stolen)
  • A recent photo meeting ICAO standards
  • Residence certificate less than 3 months old or residence permit (otherwise utility bill, driving licence or sworn statement)
  • Fee for an adult 10-year passport: €50 (fast track €150); collect within 6 months

Sources: Guichet.lu (Luxembourg government) – applying for a passport (non-residents), Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs – passport and ID card (checked October 2026). Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.

Closing days

The embassy is normally closed on Czech public holidays. On the Luxembourg national day (23 June) the office is usually closed or holds a reception.

Luxembourg nationals in urgent need of help can reach the embassy on +420 257 534 534. In the Czech Republic, the emergency number is 112 (police 158, ambulance 155).
