About the honorary consulate in Kolding
The year given in the list for the appointment is 2008. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists office hours (Monday to Friday 10:00–14:00); as honorary consuls work part-time, confirm before you go.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish visa rules for individual countries. Its travel advice points out that the authorities of the destination decide on entry rules, and asks Danish citizens to check with that country’s nearest embassy or consulate before departure – for Mauritius, that means this mission. See the ministry’s travel advice for Mauritius (in Danish).

What can an honorary consul do?
An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Mauritius and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Mauritian citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
Closing days
Like most offices in Denmark, the honorary consulate closes on public holidays – including the Easter days, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It is usually also closed on Mauritius’ national day (12 March).
Where else is Mauritius represented in Denmark?
- London – Embassy of Mauritius (accredited to Denmark, no resident embassy in Copenhagen)
