About the honorary consulate in Zagreb

The Croatian Foreign Ministry’s directory lists office hours (Monday to Thursday 09:00–16:00); as honorary consuls work part-time, confirm before you go.

Croatian citizens do not need a visa for Moldova and may enter with a valid passport or identity card, according to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. See the ministry’s visa overview for Moldova (in Croatian).

Which Moldovan office issues passports and visas?

Binding consular acts – passports, visas, certificates – are the responsibility of the Moldovan Embassy in Budapest (accredited to Croatia).

Note: Moldova has no resident embassy in Zagreb; its embassy in Budapest is accredited to Croatia.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Moldova and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Moldovan citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
