The embassy and its network in the Netherlands
The ambassador is Veaceslav Dobinda, who presented credentials to the King of the Netherlands on 14 December 2022. Unlike in most countries, the embassies in the Netherlands are not in the capital Amsterdam but in The Hague, the seat of government. What Moldovan citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Moldovan government information:
Moldovan passport (application abroad)
- Embassies and consulates accept the application and send it to the Public Services Agency, which produces the passport
- Book an appointment online and apply in person; the photo is usually taken at the mission
- Your Moldovan ID card (not required for holders of a passport with an “authorised emigration” stamp)
- All your current and expired passports, and civil status records (birth, marriage or divorce certificates)
- Proof of payment of the consular fee (payment methods vary by mission)
- Lost, damaged or expired passport and urgent return: an emergency travel document valid only for the return to Moldova

Closing days
Expect the embassy to be closed on Dutch holidays such as King’s Day (27 April), Ascension Day and Whit Monday as well as on the Moldovan national day, 27 August. If your visit falls close to a holiday, confirm by phone or e-mail.
Emergency assistance
For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +31 70 737 12 00. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. In the Netherlands, the emergency number is 112; for non-urgent police matters call 0900 8844.
