The embassy and its network in Belgium

Jaime Victor Ledda heads the embassy as ambassador; the Belgian list gives 3 February 2023 as the date of the presentation of credentials. What Philippine citizens usually need to bring for the most common requests, based on official Philippine government information:

Renewing a Philippine ePassport abroad

  • A confirmed online appointment (not needed for the courtesy lane, e.g. children aged 7 and under)
  • Completed application form; personal appearance is required for biometrics
  • Your current ePassport (original) and a photocopy of the data page
  • If your name has changed: original PSA documents (e.g. marriage certificate or annotated birth certificate)
  • Lost valid passport: police report in English, notarised affidavit of loss and a penalty fee
  • Renew early – several embassies recommend 8–9 months before expiry

Walk-in capacity is limited, so check the procedure on the embassy website first.

Do Belgian citizens need a visa for the Philippines?

Belgian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist stays in the Philippines (up to 30 days); a valid passport is required. Details: Belgian Foreign Ministry – travel documents by country.

Closing days

Expect the embassy to be closed on Belgian holidays such as 21 July (National Day), 15 August and 11 November as well as on the Philippine national day, 12 June. Check before visiting in the weeks around Christmas, Easter and in July/August.

For emergencies, the embassy’s number is +32 2 340 33 77. Embassies can issue emergency travel documents, contact relatives and provide lists of lawyers or doctors; they cannot pay bills or act as a lawyer. The Belgian emergency number is 112 (police: 101).
