Who runs the Philippine Embassy?

The current head of mission is Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes Bernas, in office since April 2023. Its accreditation extends beyond Austria to Slovenia and Republik Kroation. The Austrian Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic list names 17 accredited diplomats. The Philippines is also represented at the United Nations and other international organisations in Vienna through a separate permanent mission – a diplomatic office without services for citizens.

Which Philippine office is responsible for me?

The consular section in Vienna is responsible for Philippine citizens in all of Austria. One honorary consulate (Innsbruck) can help with information and some formalities, but passports are normally issued by the embassy.

Consular services

The consular section typically handles:

  • Powers of attorney and other notarial acts

Ask the embassy about fees and processing times before you apply – they are not listed by the Austrian Foreign Ministry.

Documents checklist

The most frequent applications and the documents the Philippine authorities ask for:

Renewing a Philippine ePassport abroad

  • A confirmed online appointment (not needed for the courtesy lane, e.g. children aged 7 and under)
  • Completed application form; personal appearance is required for biometrics
  • Your current ePassport (original) and a photocopy of the data page
  • If your name has changed: original PSA documents (e.g. marriage certificate or annotated birth certificate)
  • Lost valid passport: police report in English, notarised affidavit of loss and a penalty fee
  • Renew early – several embassies recommend 8–9 months before expiry

Requirements and fees can change and individual posts may ask for more – confirm the current list with the embassy before your visit.
