The Polish embassy’s list of honorary consulates gives the same address and mobile numbers but a different e-mail address, cconsorti@consolatopoloniasanmarino.eu.

The office is in Domagnano, about 3 km in a straight line from the Palazzo Pubblico in the City of San Marino. The nearest airport is Federico Fellini Airport in Rimini (about 14 km); Bologna Airport is about 114 km away.

San Marino is not part of the Schengen area, but according to San Marino’s foreign ministry it can only be reached by crossing it; the entry authorisations it mentions concern visitors from outside the Schengen area, so Polish citizens need no visa. Anyone staying longer than 30 days needs a stay or residence permit and must apply within that period at the Gendarmerie’s Foreigners’ Office.

Which Polish office issues passports and visas?

For passports and other formal consular services, Polish citizens should turn to the Polish Embassy in Rome, which is responsible for San Marino.

Poland has no embassy in San Marino. According to the San Marino foreign ministry’s list of bilateral relations, the Embassy of Poland in Rome is accredited to San Marino: Via P.P. Rubens, 20, 00197 Rome, Italy; tel. +39 06 36204200; e-mail ambaroma@msz.gov.pl. The ambassador is Anna Maria Anders.

What can an honorary consul do?

An honorary consul is not a career diplomat but a local resident – often a business person or lawyer – appointed by Poland and approved by the host country. Depending on the powers granted, the honorary consul can help Polish citizens in an emergency (lost passport, accident, arrest), pass on applications and documents to the embassy, and certify signatures or life certificates. Passports and visas are not issued by an honorary consulate; they remain the responsibility of the embassy or a career consulate.
